The Playboys for 160 Grams

Don't Waste, Is Art.

Playing with daily raw items like metal, hair, paper, masking tapes, pins etc always excite me. Really don't know why. Maybe it is because it always amazed me that something so original so raw can be recreate and create into so many different forms of creative items.

In my younger days, top notch creative artists like Thierry Mugler, Paco Robanne, Hussein Chalayan have had created that impossible architectural/futuristic designs using metal and other raw materials that stunned the world. In not so long ago Maison Martin Margiela created the whole wig phenomena that also caused a stir in & out of the fashion industry.

At Southbank Centre hosted Blow's second "Blow Presnts" show which showcased the work of Charlie Le Mindu, Gemma Slack, Lina Osterman and Iris Van Herpen.

This is the new version people. Creativity never dies.

Gemma Slack took the inspiration form the 60s concept designers (a William Klein film "Who are you Polly Magoo?") and made garments out of metal and aluminum sheeting.

Lina Osterman creates an impressive debut with her dark aesthetic which was reflected in the net masks and fringe wigs.

Iris Van Herpen took inspiration by radiation in which she believes that one day radiation waves around us will be visible. The waves were translated into leather strings and ribbons glimmering with gold that curved and snaked around the body.

My favorite would be the wig meister Charlie Le Mindu himself. It seems like there is nothing he can't create using crafting hairpiece in creating lips, birds of paradise, sunglasses and even the eiffel tower! Simply just brilliant!

Fashion News: New mag LURVE Mag Issue #01 Fall 09 featuring COLE MOHR

I have been predicting the trend will hit 90's styling soon... The grunge look, torn knit, Dr Martens, the Mc Hammer pants, band tees, 3 quater sleeves, turtleneck, tracksuits, bell bottoms are slowly making a come back. But sadly, Kuala Lumpur hasn't foresee the trend yet and they are pretty much still stucked at the ala Dior Homme skinny jeans and tux era. I have been looking for knit wear like the ones featured in the spread but to no avail. Anyone got some old knit wanna give away?

Here is a spread from a new magazine called LURVE. Created by a group of people who are passionate for art and fashion and celebrating individual's work and creations. I hope to see this mag on the stands soon... well, could be 6 months later but it's all good. We at least have internet. Featuring the sexy Cole Mohr, enjoy!
